Former Physician Accused of Assault Charges Against 38 Patients
Legal authorities report that a ex- doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
List of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
