Recent Details Surface Regarding the Discovery of the Reiner Couple's Bodies
Fresh particulars have surfaced concerning the untimely deaths of acclaimed film director Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their residence property on Sunday.
A Alarm
According to a report citing a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an appointment first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the home. This individual then got in touch with the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives in the vicinity.
Upon entering the residence, Romy discovered her father's body. It is said she then left the home distraught, without knowing at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. A companion who had gone with her promptly called 911. Subsequently, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Charges
Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with the charges of premeditated murder, including the use of a dangerous weapon, reportedly a knife. He is presently being held without bail.
Disputed Reports
The confidential informant challenged several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick lived in a guesthouse on the grounds, she did not point to him as a person of interest at that juncture.
Additionally pushed back against widely reported claims that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been especially "apprehensive" about Nick's actions in the weeks leading up to the incident. Rather the family was "accustomed to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement includes descriptions of alleged "unpredictable" behavior by Nick at a party held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the bodies were found. Although the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that claims of a "major confrontation" between the two were not correct.
Ongoing Inquiry Timeline
Per law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died Saturday night or on Sunday. Preliminary media reports indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was arrested at around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the neighbourhood of Exposition Park, roughly 15 miles from the family home. He was set to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, said his client had a medical issue and would be unable to attend until Wednesday at the earliest.
